Dr. Edwards is a Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Edwards received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine, completed pediatric residency and fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Baylor and a research fellowship at the Channing Laboratory of Harvard Medical School. She served for more than 40 years as an Attending Physician at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston.
Dr. Edwards maintains a longstanding interest in group B streptococcal infections and their prevention through immunization. She also is committed to increasing knowledge and practices among healthcare providers regarding the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of congenital Chagas disease. Dr. Edwards has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles and book chapters. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Disease Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society.
