Dr. John Williamson received his PharmD at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed a pharmacy residency at University of Virginia Health and an infectious diseases residency at University of North Carolina Medical Center. After training, Dr. Williamson worked at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a clinical pharmacy specialist in infectious diseases. During his time at Wake Forest, he helped to establish the institution's antimicrobial stewardship program as well as clinical pharmacy services in the Infectious Diseases Clinic. Dr. Williamson also established the PGY2 Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health and continues to serve as its inaugural director. In his current role, Dr. Williamson is Associate Professor in the Wake Forest University School of Medicine where he leads multiple studies, including clinical trials, infectious diseases epidemiology, and basic science research. His primary interests include clinical outcomes research involving antimicrobials and vaccines.
