Dr. Bhattacharya is a Professor of Medicine at UCLA, specializing in the management of HIV and viral hepatitis coinfection. Her NIH funded research includes studies which evaluate the predictors of clinical outcomes in HIV/HBV coinfected patients, including pregnant HIV/HBV coinfected women. She also conducts clinical research in viral hepatitis infection at the UCLA CARE Center and is the Chair Ex-Officio of the Hepatitis Transformative Science Group within the Advancing Clinical Trials Globally (ACTG) network. She is the IDSA Co-Chair of the AASLD/IDSA HCV Guidance Panel. She is a member of the writing panels for the CDC/NIH/HIVMA/IDSA/AAP Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections Among HIV-Exposed and HIV-Infected Children and for the NIH-CDC-HIVMA/IDSA Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in HIV-Infected Adults and Adolescents.
