Dr. Taniela Marli Bes is a physician–scientist with a strong background in infectious diseases, currently completing her Internal Medicine residency at MetroWest Medical Center, affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine in Massachusetts. Originally trained in Brazil, Dr. Bes holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology and previously completed an Infectious Diseases residency at the University of São Paulo.
Her research interests span transplant and oncology-related infections, antifungal prophylaxis in hematologic malignancies, antimicrobial resistance, and the application of molecular diagnostics in global health settings. Dr. Bes has led and mentored multiple international systematic reviews and meta-analyses through collaborative research networks involving the U.S., Brazil, and Africa.
At IDWeek 2025, Dr. Bes is presenting work on disseminated mucormycosis and several collaborative meta-analyses on malaria and dengue management, and antimicrobial therapy optimization. She is passionate about bridging clinical care, translational science, and global health policy to improve infectious disease outcomes in vulnerable populations.
