Fran Griffin is the Asscoiate Director for Clinical Qualtiy & Innovation at IDSA. She is a a Registered Respiratory Therapist and EMT who worked in clinical care before advancing to hospital administration with oversight for quality, case management, infection prevention and emergency preparedness. Fran served as faculty at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement for patient safety, infection prevention, high reliability and quality improvement programs from 2000 to 2020 and was full-time staff for eight years. She was a senior advisor for innovation models at the CMS Innovation Center from 2012 to 2016 where she led the Innovation Advisors Program and developed a Regional Innovation Network. She has served as improvement advisor to the NJ Academy of Family Physicians since 2017 and provides consulting and training to hospitals, health systems, hospital associations and organizations working on patient safety and quality improvement. Fran has presented frequently at conferences and on webinars including a pre-conference session on QI for IDWeek in 2019 - 21. She is an author on numerous publications including the 2008 Compendium of Strategies to Prevent Healthcare-Associated Infections in Acute Care Hospitals published in Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology. Fran holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
